The Mijareses

Other Tongue Translators

Alfred & Racquel Mijares are members of The Translators’ Association of the Philippines (TAP), a non- profit organization that aims to bring God’s word to the unreached tribal groups.

Together with their kids (Bethuel Judah, Bethel Faith and Boaz Alfred), Alfred and Racquel have heeded God’s call in making His word available in the heart language of every tribe and tongue. They have committed their lives to translating the New Testament in the language of the Butbut, Kalinga people.

They started their ministry as newly married couples way back in 1991 although Racquel began her missionary work in the area as early as 1987. Together they have worked on putting the Butbut language into written form by establishing their orthography (alphabet) through linguistics, and anthropological researches. Literacy materials have been produced to prepare the people to read in their own language. Together with a couple of Mother Tongue Translators (MTT), the Mijareses continue to translate the New Testament for the Butbut people with the vision of promoting church growth through Bible translation.

The Mijareses have been working hand in hand with a team of dedicated people who share their vision
