The Monitor-lizard

As for monitor-lizard mortar said, "Where are you going, Monitor-Lizard?" 

"I am going head-hunting." If you will come (along), you will stay behind me (lit. be last). Also (when they) moved on, it was said (that) pestle was there.

It-was-said (that) pestle said to monitor-lizard, "Where are you going?"

"Let us go head-hunting. It was said (that) Monitor-lizard said, "You (pestle) stay behind (lit. be last). And (when) they went to the other side, it was said crab was there.

It was said (that) crab said, "Where are you going, monitor-lizard?" "We are going head-hunting. Are you coming?"

I am coming. And (when) they went to Passiw (name of a ricefield), Arrow-grass-leaf was there. Arrow-grass-leaf said, "Where are you going, Monitor-lizard?"

"We are going head-hunting. Are you coming?"

"I am coming." And (when) they went to the other side, Quail was there it was said. Said Quail, "Where are you going, Monitor-lizard?” I will come (along) please."

"So come on." And (when) they-went to the other side, Soft-stool was there it was said. It was said (that) Soft-stool said, "I will come (along) please, Monitor-lizard, wherever you go."

"So come-along so we will go head-hunting." And he taught them it was said.

And he said, "You, Soft-stool, you stay at her head-portion. You, Arrow-grass-leaf stay at the doorway. You, Crab, you stay at the earthen-pot. You, Quail you-stay in the ashes.

When Soft-stool (puju') entered, the old-woman suddenly-awake and she said, "Aus! Aus! (Expression for bad smell)" When (she) went to wash (her)-face through dipping (her head) into the water, crab pinched (her) too, it was said. She went to blow (the firewood), it was said (and) Quail caused-her-to-have-a-speck in her eye (lit. specked-her) it was said. (And when she) went-out of the door, it was said, Arrow-grass-leaf also sliced (her). (And when she) also jumped-over their front yard, it was said, her-foot/feet fell-into the mortar and it was said Pestle 'pestle-d' (her) it was said, and her-head was cut-off. It was said Monitor-lizard put-(the head)-in-the-native-backpack. And that is Lisnay's story.
