Under the current geopolitical set-up, the Butbut people falls under the jurisdiction of the Province of Kalinga. The settlements of the Butbut Kalinga comprise 12 villages, five of which are found in the southern tip of the municipality of Tinglayan, Southern Kalinga, while the rest of the villages are scattered towards Tabuk, the capital of Kalinga and Rizal, Kalinga.
