The Carabao and the Field Shell
It was said as for the Carabao (Lugwang) and the Field Shell (Agkung), Carabao said, ''Field Shell, let's have a contest.''
''What contest shall we do?'' said Akung.
''Let's have a race as to who will reach the northern-most.''
''Yes,'' said Field Shell , ''But I will pass by the water and you will pass by the riverbed,'' said Field Shell .
''Yes, I will pass by the riverbed because that's where I can run,'' said Carabao. And then Carabao said, ''Let's make a schedule, after three days then we will start,'' said Carabao.
''Yes, you will come here by the riverside after three days so that I will know,'' said Field Shell . After they had agreed their schedule, one day Field Shell went to many-Field Shell until the end of the Northern (part of their direction), he went and said, ''As for you, Akung (pl), whenever Carabao will say, ''Field Shell are you here?' 'I am here.' you say.'' He went and met with the other Akung until the northern-most. And then he returned after two days.
And after three days Carabao arrived where Field Shell was.
Field Shell said, ''Carabao, are you here?''
''I am here.'' ''What are you going to bet for the contest, Carabao?''
''As for me, money,'' said Carabao.
''And how much?''
''One thousand,'' said Carabao. ''And how about you, Field Shell ?''
I will bet a clam which when placed on a wood would creep out. It is expensive.'' said Akung.
''Yes if it will creeps out.'' said Carabao. And then Carabao said, ''As for you if you will count to three then I will run along the river,'' said Carabao.
And Field Shell counted and said, ''One, two, three,'' he said. They started to race. And then whenever Carabao reach a distance he said, ''Field Shell , are you here?''
''I am here,'' said Field Shell .
''My Field Shell is fast though he is small!'' said Carabao. Whenever he will go down the river and call Field Shell , ''Field Shell are you here?''
''I am here.'' said Field Shell . And when they reached Tinglayan, it was said that Carabao's hoofnails were removed,
it was said that all of them were removed that's why he could hardly walk. And when he calls Field Shell ,
Field Shell said, ''I am here.'' Even when they reached Bangad Carabao was not able to walk, he said '' I will stop, Field Shell , because I am not able to walk.'' Carabao returned and he went to where he came from.
After that he called Field Shell and Field Shell was staying in his place. He said, ''Field Shell you win, I loss.'' It was said he gave the one thousand money to Field Shell . The story about Field Shell and Carabao is finish.
